Most of Chestnut Hill was farmland well into the 20th century, but after the Chestnut Hill Reservoir was developed, areas around the reservoir followed suit. The building of the reservoir was by Frederick Law Olmstead, who also designed Central Park and the Emerald Necklace. In more recent years, the area was home to Tom Brady, a local Boston hero. Remnants of the areas agricultural origination are found in the Kennard Park and Conservation Area, where you can find century old trees in a post-agricultural forest.
